Rochester NY Family Photos: Maternity Pictures at Highland Park

I have to admit, I was very excited to work with Mindy and Ryan. Lindsey, one of our Class of 2016 Seniors, gifted them a session. And they choose to use as a beautiful maternity session.

While working with them, I discovered that Lindsey also introduced this couple: her brother, and her teacher. Two years ago they were wed, last year they bought a house, and this year they will bring a baby home!

Mindy and Ryan are very excited to bring a new Broncos fan to the world, and doesn't she look amazing in that dress? Check out a few favorites, and leave them some well wishes in the comments! Many congratulations to two wonderful people, I can't wait to meet the little man!

Fairport Swimming Senior Photos: Suhan

We met Suhan at the Northern Stone Design Center on Route 31, just as it started to sprinkle. She braved the weather with us, and it turned out to be a gorgeous evening! I loved adding the umbrella for a little twist, and she looked amazing in all of her outfits. Not only did she change her clothes, but she had new shoes and earrings to go with each outfit. I asked her to be my personal shopper... we'll see how that goes :) Suhan is also a captain for the Fairport swim team, so of course we had to get in the water! I loved working in her environment, and she even showed us her speed in the water! This was another great evening, thanks for working with us Suhan! Have a fantastic senior year!

3 Reasons You Haven't Scheduled Your Family Portrait Session and Why You Should

3 Reasons You Haven't Scheduled Your Family Portrait Session and Why You Should

Because your kids aren't going to stay kids forever (and are beautiful even when they're running around), there’s no younger you than today, and there’s no time like the present. Right now, today is truly all we’re guaranteed in this life.

College Graduation Portraits: Ashley & Family

From the first time I spoke with Ashley, I knew this was going to be a fun session. It absolutely lived up to expectation. It was everything you could ask for in a photo session: awesome people on a gorgeous night in a meaningful location.

After four years of studying Psychology at SUNY Geneseo, Ashley wanted to celebrate by creating photos around campus to remind her of the happy memories. Her boyfriend of two years and parents joined in too!

Check out the images below and you'll get an idea of how much fun we had. If this sounds like something you'd like to do, give us a call! We love celebrating life with you!

Ashley, I hope you have an amazing time in Europe, and I can't wait to see what you do when get back!

Cheers!

Fairport Photography of Bob and Elena

One of my very favorite parts of this job is meeting new people and hearing their stories. Elena is Russian, and heading home soon to be with family for the summer months. We squeezed in a quick session before she takes off so she can show her family in Russia where she lives.

Bob runs Eastside Fence here in Fairport and came highly recommended for the quality work he does. I have enjoyed getting to know them both over the last few weeks and feel like I have made new friends.

I mean, it's not every day that a session ends with tea and cookies! Thank you so much for your hospitality, and I cannot wait to hear about your trip, Elena! Safe travels!

Courtney and Scott: Rochester NY Engagement Session at Amore

I'll admit it, I wasn't sure what to expect when Courtney mentioned they'd like to do their engagement session at Amore. I mean, it's in a Wegmans after all. I knew that technically it's set apart from the grocery store, but there was something odd about pulling into the grocery store parking lot to photograph something so romantic.

But Scott and Courtney spend a lot of time at the bar at Amore, so it really fit them perfectly. And the bar setting gave us sooooo many intimate and beautiful options! You seriously can't even tell there's a bustle of activity happening just steps away.

After a glass of wine, we ended our evening at Cobbs Hill with a little greener setting. It was so fun to watch them go from romantic to a more playful side as our time together concluded.

We're so thrilled to be able to witness and capture their upcoming wedding day. We've known Courtney for awhile, and have already been to one of their family's weddings - so I know this wedding will be just as amazing!

Guest Post: Why You Need to Print Your Photos, Rochester NY Photography

In today's world, there are more pictures taken every minute than ever before. Yet, a very small percentage of them will ever be printed. They'll live in a digital world, on a phone or a computer until that technology becomes obsolete and they'll then sadly disappear forever.

So today we're sharing another guest post, provided by Design Aglow that we hope opens your eyes to why we believe in the power of prints.

Shared from Design Aglow
It’s been a hard day. You’re tired--and let’s face it--a little cranky. OK, a lot cranky. So to cheer yourself up, you walk over to your computer and fire up the DVD of your recent family portrait session so that you can flip through the images. After seeing the slideshow playing on your tiny laptop, you can’t wait until the rest of the family comes over so that you can pass the computer around the dinner table.

Here’s another scenario, similar to the first, except for one crucial point: those incredible, indelible images are hanging on your walls. You see them every time you walk by; you smile every time you walk by. In each room of your home, the heirloom photographic art makes your heart swell, overflowing with the investment you’ve made in your family, the investment in adding permanence to your memories.

The impulse to purchase images on a disc instead of a canvas or a print is strong. We feel as if we don’t actually own something until we possess every image from our shoot, as if the only way to experience our family is by being able to make as many reprints of them as we want.

But images on disc sit around. They become stuffed into a desk drawer, until their media is rendered obsolete and the images cannot be accessed anymore. They remain untouched, until that day when we’ll have enough time to put them in an album or print them ourselves. Finished products, on the other hand, are just that. They are ready to hang, ready to enjoy. They are instant--and constant--gratification. They are objects that can be passed down to your children, and your children’s children. The tangible nature of fine art--that it is an actual object, hanging on your wall or sitting on your coffee table--is meant for enjoyment, for experience, not to be archived on a shelf in a plastic media case. A CD of all of your images is not fine art. And the creation of fine art cannot be cheap. Crafting memories and creating personalized products that can be enjoyed for generations is a job that carries a lot of responsibility and weight, and demands finesse and skill. With professional photography, as with so much of life, you get what you pay for. Photographic art is an investment, to be sure, but it’s one that you’ll never regret.

Every day, we stress the importance of printing your photographs. We don't care if it's in a book or on the wall. We don't care if you forget our name in 20 years, as long as your pictures are printed for your children, and their children. We cannot say it enough.

Alyssa and Vince: Engagement Session in Pittsford NY

They met down the road at St. John Fisher College, but would come to Schoen Place in Pittsford to walk along the canal path together.

Then one day on vacation in California, Vince stopped the car along the ocean front to propose to Alyssa. Naturally, she said yes.

So a spring morning on the waterfront (albeit the canal, not the ocean) was the right choice for their engagement session.

When he looks at Alyssa, her expression glows. And the way he held her close to keep her warm on a chilly spring day....sigh, adorable. It's easy to see that these two fit perfectly, and that they belong together.

What a great morning spent capturing a great relationship!
