Cars and Trucks Family Mini Sessions: Fairport NY Photographers

Newsflash! Adorable families and vintage cars go together PERFECTLY in family pictures.

I mean, come ON - these kids are so cute! Not only are the family pictures from our cars and trucks candid mini session perfect, the kids also had fun while we took the pictures!

They were allowed to climb in and on, all sorts of cars, trucks and tractor. They drove the tractor or sat in the truck bed. They honked the horns, and pretended they were in race cars.

They played. Their parents, got updated family portraits - it was a win, win all around!

Candid Family Mini Sessions: Easter Egg Hunts

Three minutes of egg searching craziness. That's how long an egg hunt takes a child.

It takes at least two of those minutes to find and set your phone, then another minute to catch up to your child and attempt to snap a photo of them trying to carry eight eggs in two hands. By that time, you might have missed the moment.

Being present is something we all struggle with, right? You want to enjoy, but you also don't want to forget their smiling faces in this moment. I am that mom, every day.

This is the reason we created this membership. So you can be there, enjoying "right now." Because we're taking care of the rest.

Catch up with us and the fun of the egg hunt event below! Then join us on April 6th to find out how you can start enjoying "right now" with us.

5 Years and Counting: Happy Anniversary Us!

So often we get caught up in the daily tasks of running a business that we forget to step back and look at all we've actually accomplished.

But not today. Today we're celebrating a milestone anniversary of us. Five years ago today, we made "Lori & Erin" official in the eyes of New York State - and we haven't looked back. In this industry, so many of us are independent and prefer to go it alone. So, finding a photography partnership can be a little like finding a unicorn. It's something rare.

For those that don't know our story, you can check out the recap in this post from earlier this week. Whether it was the Almighty, Buddha, or Yoda using The Force, I believe that finding each other and creating this business was meant to happen.

We've set goals and faced challenges. We've grown together, as well as individually into who we are and why we do it. We aren't the same people who started this journey. We're stronger and smarter and maybe a little bit crazier (in a good way). And all because we had an idea of a partnership over five years ago.

And it's also because of you. Looking back on all of these sessions has been wonderful. We're so grateful for each of your smiles. You have helped us grow. Thank you for putting your trust in us, year after year to help you treasure your relationships forever.

Here's to another five years!

Lori & Erin

PS - Here's a video recap of ALL five years, are you in it?

Family Portraits in Pittsford NY: Lifestyle Newborn Photography

Little brothers are the best. For this particular big brother, they make the perfect roadway for a hot wheels car, and also for some occasional adorable kisses.

Going from one child to two is kind of a big deal. There's all sorts of ups and downs involved that change your whole world in an instant. Welcoming this little man into the family means longer days, and definitely longer nights. But they're doing it together, with lots of going with the flow and lots of laughter.

Packers fans through and through (much to Lori's delight) they sported their jerseys with Cheesehead pride. And when big brother didn't want to be part of the pictures, he played - karate chopping bubbles and swinging in Daddy's arms. And as always, they went with it. Because what else can you do?

In the end when laying in bed with both of your babies in your arms is what you need to do - you go with it. Even if you are exhausted, enjoy every second of it. Because all too soon, this time of your lives shall also pass - with or without nap time.

When it does, we hope these photos will happily remind you of these early days as a family of four (plus dog).

Award Winning Photographer: PPSNYS 2017

It's exciting to win ... anything really... but this is an award I am especially fond of. And it's all because of the subject matter. First I'll tell you a little about Liam, and then about the award.

"The Prodigy" | PPSNYS 2017 Judges Choice Award

About Liam

I have known Liam and his family for over five years now. They are very special to me. They are one of those families that start out as clients and end up becoming great friends. At their family portrait session last year, I remember playing with Liam and his siblings in the backyard. He ran around like a typical three year old.

But, when we went inside, that changed quickly. He got out his tiny violin and, with dad by his side, played for me. I was floored by how much talent this little boy has.

That wild three year old boy transformed. He was focused and proud with instrument in hand. I made many photographs of the moment, and many months later, decided to enter this one into a print competition.

About the Award

As part of the New York State Professional Photographers Society, Erin and I regularly attend the annual convention, which this year took place in Buffalo. Part of the convention includes an image competition, where photographers can test their skills against other professionals in several categories. Prizes are awarded based on overall scores, category wins and more. I entered four images into the competition, all of which were judged "Above Average".

After scoring, each of the judges then selected their favorite overall image from the 100+ entries. This image received the "Judges Choice Award". I was able to speak to the judge who selected my image. They loved the moment that it captured and also how the composition fit the rule of thirds in addition to the golden ratio.

Thank you

I want to thank Liam and his whole family for the honor of being your photographer. I love you guys!

I also want to thank the other members of PPSNYS who encouraged me to submit, helped me select my final images and provided guidance with editing and titling. Specifically John Aiken, Pat Luke, Deb Woodard, Erin Perrotta (of course) and so many more!

These images all received the white ribbon for above average.

Families in Victor NY: Portrait Sessions at Home

Susan and Brian are very peaceful people. They have a meditation area set up in their spacious backyard, a vegetable garden and a very mellow golden retriever who likes to lay by the piano. I really enjoyed my time with them, creating images for Cobblestone Living magazine. I especially loved when Roxy joined Susan for some quiet mediation. So cute! Check them out, and say hi if you see Susan and Brian out and about!

Rochester NY Family Photos: Maternity Pictures at Highland Park

I have to admit, I was very excited to work with Mindy and Ryan. Lindsey, one of our Class of 2016 Seniors, gifted them a session. And they choose to use as a beautiful maternity session.

While working with them, I discovered that Lindsey also introduced this couple: her brother, and her teacher. Two years ago they were wed, last year they bought a house, and this year they will bring a baby home!

Mindy and Ryan are very excited to bring a new Broncos fan to the world, and doesn't she look amazing in that dress? Check out a few favorites, and leave them some well wishes in the comments! Many congratulations to two wonderful people, I can't wait to meet the little man!

Courtney and Scott: Rochester NY Engagement Session at Amore

I'll admit it, I wasn't sure what to expect when Courtney mentioned they'd like to do their engagement session at Amore. I mean, it's in a Wegmans after all. I knew that technically it's set apart from the grocery store, but there was something odd about pulling into the grocery store parking lot to photograph something so romantic.

But Scott and Courtney spend a lot of time at the bar at Amore, so it really fit them perfectly. And the bar setting gave us sooooo many intimate and beautiful options! You seriously can't even tell there's a bustle of activity happening just steps away.

After a glass of wine, we ended our evening at Cobbs Hill with a little greener setting. It was so fun to watch them go from romantic to a more playful side as our time together concluded.

We're so thrilled to be able to witness and capture their upcoming wedding day. We've known Courtney for awhile, and have already been to one of their family's weddings - so I know this wedding will be just as amazing!
