The last time this group updated their family portrait was in 2013. It was at a wedding, so the family picture was to be expected.

The rented AirBnB became the setting for an extended family portrait session. It was a surprise for many of the family members who were all coming from various parts of North America.

These family portraits included a lot of laughing, as well as both sweet and silly moments. Scroll down to the last image and you’ll find a photograph of everyone diving into an apple pie. This was planned as a tribute to their Grandmother - who sadly passed not too long ago.

It was her special recipe that was used to bake the pie. It was such a beautiful way to honor and include a cherished loved one in your family pictures.

Their joy was contagious, and their family pictures reflected every ounce of it. It was an honor to photograph this extended family session for them.

This year, their Fall wildflowers were beautiful, and they had apples to pick from their trees. They even each took a turn on the zipline that stretches across one a pond.

They enjoy a blend of posed family photographs and candid family pictures. Their family pictures tell the story of who they are and what they enjoy together.

Family Pictures at Tinker Park

What do you do when every single time you have a family portrait session in the fall, it rains?

Well, after countless reschedules and the holiday season quickly approaching? You go forward with your family mini sessions at Tinker Park anyway. In the rain.

Because yes, fall is a beautiful time of year for family pictures, but any photographer in Rochester will tell you, it’s makes for a busy schedule. Add in weather delays and you have a recipe for chaos.

And so, with a threat of a drizzle, we went ahead with our Tinker Park Candid Mini Sessions. In the end, all of the family’s who came for fall portraits had fun, and even stayed mostly dry!

So if I could give any advice to those looking for Fall family pictures - it’d be this: Plan your family pictures for early in the season. Plan back up dates. And plan for playing in the rain.

Or if those ideas don’t work for you - plan for Spring instead.

Not gonna lie, watching this family grow up in the family pictures we take is awesome. From new babies to lost baby teeth, photographing their milestones as a family has been so much fun.

This time, they wanted to add momentos to honor those whom they’ve lost along the way. They chose to use the two small clocks in the first portrait to represent those beloved family members. We thought that was a beautiful idea and perfect tribute.

You know you work with the right families when you get a text the night before from Mom that says "He just lost his first too! It's a good time for pictures!" (Scroll down to see that one, it’s my favorite from this family session.)

You could want the perfect pictures or you could want that perfect photo of that first little gap in their smile. There's no wrong answer, but I know what I'd pick!

This family always likes to have fun with their family pictures. The last time we saw them, we went mini golfing with them. This time they were celebrating the littlest's first birthday, and they hit up Moonlight Creamery for an ice cream celebration.

But first, we captured some portraits of the whole family. We updated each child’s individual portrait, with a focus on their newly minted one year old.

Then after the family pictures were taken care of, it was time to celebrate with baby’s first ice cream cone!
