Erie Canal Family Portraits: Pittsford, NY

After three years photographing this little lady, (another one of our awesome portrait members) it's possible she's finally warming up to the idea of me being around with my camera. Or maybe it was the ducks on the canal. Ok fine, it was probably the ducks.

Whatever the reason, I had a fun evening with her, and her mom and dad, on the Erie Canal. They fed the ducks and the pigeons, played hide and seek and ran around barefoot (my kind of girl).

Laid back and relaxed, it's always better to let the three year old be a three year old at a portrait session, isn't it?

What's better than watching your daughter's face light up as she feeds the ducks? Or running around minus her shoes? What more can you do but enjoy it? Because this is who she is, and I love it.

Family Session at the Butterfly Trail in Macedon, NY

We are having such a beautiful Autumn, and this morning was gorgeous. It was my pleasure to walk the butterfly trail with this awesome family of four.

It's hard for us to believe that Mom and Dad are celebrating their 5th anniversary this year. We've been photographing weddings for that long?

And their two beautiful kids keep them on their toes!

As challenging as toddlers can be, I hope you remember how they only wanted mom to hold them. These memories of throwing rocks in the water (endless entertainment for toddlers) are small, but beautiful. How sweet and loving those kids are, and how dirty they ended up at the end there. :-D

Happy anniversary you two, and thanks for letting us witness your love and share in your joy all of these years later.

Jennejahn Park Extended Family Portrait Session: Hilton, NY

It was my first time at Jennejahn Park in Hilton, but I would love to go back! A neat little spot tucked behind a school, with a stream and trails. It worked perfectly to celebrate this family.

Everyone was in one place for a birthday party, so why not have some fun together? The kids played, the adults chased, there were bubbles and laughs.

They (the children) don't get smaller, that's for sure. And these kiddos had their cuteness on overload. See what I mean below, and say hi!

Canandaigua Lake Family Portrait Session

Four generations, one lake house, 7 days.

It doesn't get more perfect. After taking a beautiful morning drive to Canandaigua Lake, following a switchback driveway through the woods, I arrived at a beautiful home overlooking the lake. I was met by an amazing, laid back family, gathered together to enjoy a week in the Finger Lakes and each other's company. Making memories together as a family.

They came from several states to spend this time together. And I was there to make the rare photo of the whole gang together.

Thanks for having me and being awesome. I hope you all enjoyed the Finger Lakes!

Apples, Family and Pictures: Candid Family Mini Sessions Fairport NY

I've been writing these event posts all year with my goal being to show you how much fun and how worthwhile our membership program is.

The events we plan are typically not over the top. They're things your family might do whether or not our cameras were there. For example, going apple picking. It's a fun fall activity, which you might do all on your own time together as a family.

I love seeing the little things at these events, like a child instinctually grab grandma or grandpa's hand as they walk through the orchard. I love watching our families grow together and seeing the kids interact with each other along the way.

And at the end of the day, we have the privilege of giving you back those moments in the photographs we take.

We have one more awesome event planned in October and really hope that you'll all join us. If you're interested in coming, we'll be at Wickham Farms on October 29th from 12-2pm. Whether your a member or not, we want to enjoy these moments with you!

Family Portraits in Pittsford NY: Lifestyle Newborn Photography

Little brothers are the best. For this particular big brother, they make the perfect roadway for a hot wheels car, and also for some occasional adorable kisses.

Going from one child to two is kind of a big deal. There's all sorts of ups and downs involved that change your whole world in an instant. Welcoming this little man into the family means longer days, and definitely longer nights. But they're doing it together, with lots of going with the flow and lots of laughter.

Packers fans through and through (much to Lori's delight) they sported their jerseys with Cheesehead pride. And when big brother didn't want to be part of the pictures, he played - karate chopping bubbles and swinging in Daddy's arms. And as always, they went with it. Because what else can you do?

In the end when laying in bed with both of your babies in your arms is what you need to do - you go with it. Even if you are exhausted, enjoy every second of it. Because all too soon, this time of your lives shall also pass - with or without nap time.

When it does, we hope these photos will happily remind you of these early days as a family of four (plus dog).

Family Portraits on the Erie Canal

Sofia loves to smell the flowers and feed the ducks at Schoen Place in Pittsford, right along the historic Erie Canal. So for this special session celebrating her second trip around the sun, she donned a pink tutu and we had some fun along the water!

How cute is this little girl??

She is so loved, happy birthday Sofia!

Family Portraits in the Finger Lakes

Vacation, trip, getaway, adventure... whatever you call it, this family came from three different states to be together. They spent their time exploring the beauty of the Finger Lakes, pausing just long enough for me to capture some portraits outside their AirBNB. We had a cool overcast morning and two adorable littles to work with.

All I can say is, I love what we do, and I hope you love the result. It was a pleasure working with you and I hope to see you next time you're in town!

First Birthday Party Photography, Fairport NY

Chloe wasn't sure about her first bites of birthday cake, but she sure loved the toys at her 1st birthday party! Mom and Dad planned her an awesome "Under the Sea" themed party which lots of family and friends came out to enjoy. Chloe flashed her smile all day long and enjoyed opening her gifts. Can you believe her mom made that cake? How cute!

It has been my pleasure watching this little family grow, and I felt like part of the family while photographing this milestone for them. Looking forward to the next one, she'll be walking in no time!

xoxo,
Lori

A special portrait session for the whole family

Large families are the best. Sometimes they're crazy, sometimes they disagree, but they always come together when they're needed. It's a beautiful thing.

Sometimes though, with as many people as this family has, it's tough to schedule a time where 32 people can all be in one spot, and inserting missing people from an extended family photograph is not in the norm for us.

But when Laura told me the circumstances, we made it happen. It's a lot of work, so we're thankful for the special skills of a very good retoucher, Megan Mullen for helping us make this full family portrait possible.

Family and Yoga Portraits in Brighton NY

Various hobbies, likes and dislikes are everything that makes each family we photograph unique. This family, they have a lot of everything going on from gymnastics, to guitar, yoga, basketball, and lacrosse - you name it, they do it all!

I had the pleasure of photographing this happy and fun bunch for the Houston-Barnard Living magazine, and it was truly a joy. Those two adorable dachshunds didn't hurt anything either!

Say hello to Aimee, Peter and their clan! I hope to see you all again very soon!

Family Portraits in Victor NY: Cobblestone Neighborhood

Slowing this family down is tough to do. They've been on the go all summer, traveling for their various lacrosse games together. But we managed to find an hour together for some portraits with them at home, and their dog Murphy.

When they get the chance, their ideal weekends would include each other, and maybe some golf, or relaxing by the pool.

While we didn't play golf or hit the pool, the girls did show me some of their lacrosse skills while the dog ran around the yard chasing sticks. And what matters more is, that they were together at home, even if for a short time.
