Senior Portraits, Pittsford Mendon, Rochester NY: James

I had the pleasure of meeting James last year when he came along to his brother’s senior portrait session as comic relief.

This time around, it was his turn in front of the camera. He rocked it with his Led Zeppelin t-shirt. He also donned a sport coat and a sweater which fit his dreamy, reflective personality - the way his mom describes him.

It was a great day for high school senior portraits in Highland Park, and I’m sure there are many more great days ahead for this bright soul. Thanks James, I can’t wait to see where life takes you next!

Pittsford Dairy Farms Family Pictures

It’s the dead of winter, the time of year when it starts to get harder to see the grey skies every single day. Personally, winter isn’t my thing. I prefer spring time and summer to this bundling up.

But then I photograph an awesome family like this and I think “ok, yes, maybe winter can be bright and happy.”

I mean, they were the perfect amount of giggles and hugs and fun with a hot chocolate break in the middle. A little goofy fun mixed with a whole lot of love. They made photographing a winter family portrait session look easy.

And when the snow fell lightly at the right moment, adding just a touch of season to the images - perfection all around.

See for yourself!

Coffee Shop Personal Branding Session, Fairport NY: Nicole

I’d like you to meet Nicole Sipple of Visual Impressions! Nicole is a talented graphic designer working in both print and web design. I have had the pleasure of working with her on several projects over the past year, and was excited to finally get her in front of the camera!

We recently had the opportunity to create some images to help illustrate her brand. I’ll let her tell you a little bit more about it.

Who is your ideal customer? Small businesses and entrepreneurs who are passionate about their business.

What problem are you solving for them? Creatively helping them design a cohesive branding solution from logo to designed collateral and a stellar online presence.

How do you want your client to feel? We want clients to feel warm and welcome. I want them to feel that they are in good hands and can trust that through working together we can achieve something that is pretty unique.

What is your one key story that you want your client to know/learn? The average time a consumer takes to review your website is 7 seconds. That's not a lot of time to grab a potential clients attention enough for them to want to stay and want to know more about your services. You need to have a cohesive brand solution that can capture their attention to help them gain and keep clients.

What is your point of difference and how do you stand out? My point of difference is I am a graphic designer who has years of printing experience. There are a lot of great designs out there that look great on screen but sometimes it doesn't translate as successfully once printed. I know digital is becoming the future but i do not think print will ever die.

Want to know more? You can find Nicole at www.visualimpressionsdesign.com

Tell her we sent you!

Genesee Brew House Engagement Session: Jill & Travis

In talking about their engagement session, Jill asked me if I had any tips on how to be more natural in photographs. I gave her some ideas, but I’ll be honest - they didn’t need them.

From the very start at their engagement session at Highland Park, Jill and Travis were perfection. Laughing, snuggling, and more laughing. Perfection despite the bone chilling temperatures that often accompanies a winter engagement session.

After a stop at the park, we hit up the rooftop at the Genesee Brewhouse. The wind was chilly, but they danced and flirted, and laughed some more. They bring out each other’s silliness, which is exactly their natural state.

I’m already looking forward to their wedding day, just to see them laugh again.

Business Photography for Dentists in Rochester NY

Meet the friendly women of 585 Dentist! We wanted to show how welcoming their office is, and make clients feel at home. So rather than the usual, formal headshots, we created environmental portraits in their own space. No boring, fake backdrops necessary. We even got outside to take advantage of the fall foliage!

If you need a brand image refresh for your business, give us a call and let’s make something to feature your business here next!

Victor High School, Cobblestone Creek Senior Portraits: Jeremy

If he’s not on the course, you might find Jeremy at the pool house. He loves taking advantage of having Cobblestone Creek Country Club literally in his backyard. He enjoys having a golf course so much, that Jeremy plays for the Victor High School golf team.

There are the amazing bridges and easy to find scenes at Cobblestone Creek, but we took the carts out and found some off the beaten path areas as well. Did you know there are railroad ties around some of the sand traps? So unique!

And wow, this kid is talented. After just a few practice swings (so we could get those action shots) Jeremy put the ball 5 feet from the hole... from off the tee. That would have taken me at least 8 strokes. :)

It was a pleasure working with you Jeremy, hope you’re having a great year and good luck in the Spring!

Home Based Family Portraits in Fairport, NY

The youngest just turned one, not that you need an excuse to celebrate your family! These guys invited me over, and we played inside while it snowed like crazy outside. Each of the kids showed me their favorite toy, they read me a book and played a little piano too.

I may not have kids of my own, but I sure feel blessed to be able to spend so much time with them anyway. Kids have this ability to take the mundane and make it magic. I hope they, and all of us adults too, hold on to that forever.

Say hello to some of my Fairport neighbors! Thanks for inviting us into your lives. We really do love it!

Savannah: Fall themed Senior Portraits in Fairport, NY

Savannah loves all things fall… so we headed to Chase Farms for her senior portraits. The pumpkins and corn stalks were the perfect setting. It was a windy day, but Savannah took it all in stride! We made a couple other stops including this abandoned greenhouse down the street - which she rocked with that jacket.

We finished up at the Fairport High School track, where she has spent many hours. A double jump gets her pumped before each race, so we made it look like she could jump over the trees!

We laughed, took some great images, and we got photo bombed by a caterpillar… basically, it was everything you can hope for in a senior portrait session. :)

Thanks for the adventure, and enjoy the photos Savannah!

The Playhouse, Swillburger Rochester NY Engagement Session: Helen and Tim

Their perfect evening is a good beer and sitting home together playing video games. Everyone has their thing together, and for these two it’s gaming. Naturally, the first idea that came to mind for their engagement session was heading downtown in Rochester for an engagement session at The Playhouse. Conveniently, this was also where they had their first date.

It was super perfect - from skee ball to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. They laughed and played and fake pouted when the other person beat them in a game. Along the way, we photographed who they really are as a couple.

After a drink and some games, we headed outside to Highland Park for a quick outdoor portion to their session. It was cold, but the light was perfect and they kept each other warm. We’re loving these Rochester winter engagement sessions lately. It seems to be making a come back, and we’re all for it!

Enjoy!

Extended Family Portraits at the Lamberton Conservatory, Rochester NY

Last time I saw this group, Emerson was Preston’s age, and Preston didn’t exist! My how time flies. It was so wonderful to catch up with everyone again, this time enjoying the warmth and greenery of the conservatory while it snowed outside.

The boys are definitely the stars of this show, and it’s obvious they love their parents and grandparents. I know these photos will be treasured now, and as they grow older.

Thanks for stopping by, and enjoy this winter holiday celebration of three generations!

Voluntourism: Why you won't see Lori in March

As I do the paperwork to validate our commitment to 1% for the Planet, I realize, we’re doing a heck of a lot more than donating 1% of our profits. We’re donating our time too! Lori here, and ya’ll know that the environment is important to me.

I’ve written about this before…once or twice.

So this year, we’re taking it one step further.

My husband and I will be taking a few weeks in March to volunteer at Albufera Natural Park, near Valencia, Spain via GOAT Volunteers.

The journey is the destination

The journey is the destination

València’s Albufera Natural Park is one of the most ecologically important areas in all of Spain.  Its biodiversity and economic impact on the region are significant reasons to preserve this incredible collection of wetlands.  It has been declared as a place of special protection by the European Union due to the wide range of wildlife; specifically water, wading, and migratory birds including several in danger of extinction.  Albufera also supports intense agricultural (cultivation of rice), industrial, hunting, and touristic uses whose consequences have resulted in significant pollution and encroachment on the wildlife’s natural habitat.

The Environmental Conservation in Spain project focuses on helping the local teams with their recovery plan and park management & maintenance activities.  Natural “green” filters were planted to clean the water of Lake Albufera to help improve water quality and promote growth of aquatic plant and animal life.  Your days will be spent either in the water or along the trails that run through the park.  You’ll be tasked with clearing waterways, eradicating invasive plants, picking up rubbish, planting various plants to increase biodiversity, and assisting with research tasks performed by the local teams. -GOAT Volunteers

People I have mentioned this to have been really interested, so I asked to be an ambassador with GOAT. If you are interested in this type of voluntourism, use my name when you apply and save $25 on your application fee!

So what do you think? Is this something you would do, or are you happy to follow along from the comfort of your home? I’d love to hear your feedback now, and during the trip, so chime in on social or in the comments below!
