Lori's 365 Project recap: September

Faves

Another month gone by. Wow, I can't believe this year is 3/4 of the way done! As I look at this months images, I am thankful for all of the new and returning clients we have seen. It has been a wild ride! With wedding and senior seasons wrapping up, I've found a little more time to walk the dogs and enjoy the changing leaves. Getting some projects done around the house, eating some good food, and finishing up in the garden. I also participated in a 33 mile charity bike ride for MS, which was a great, but exhausting day. I have to say, my favorite image this month must be of my friend Dani. We were college roommates, but she now lives in Pittsburgh and is pregnant with her second child. She stopped by unexpectedly, and it just seemed right to eat chocolate cake and relive some college memories!

A lonely apple

I'm not going to lie, there are some days when I just don't wait to capture a slice of it. But it is very cool to be able to look back at your life in this way. Which days were exciting, which days weren't. And when your sick, trying to come up with an idea for a shot that isn't just a pile of tissues... ( like today).

Thanks for joining me on this ride. Feel free to share your own projects and stories!

Pittsford Maternity Sessions

2014-09-22_0001.jpg

Shortly before my maternity leave began early, I photographed the most wonderful family / maternity session. This family is near and dear to my heart, and has grown by two! We photographed the session before their twins arrived, so now their family photograph looks quite a bit different, and even more wonderful. When I posted the sneak peek, I remember feeling in awe of Tiffany. Pregnant with my first child, I couldn't fathom how she kept it all together. Two beautiful boys, pregnant with twins and going at full speed as much as she could.

Her twins have finally arrived, and so has my little one. As I sit here writing this blog while simultaneously rocking my son to sleep, I'm still inspired as she seems to get it all done.

For now, I'm excited to share these images from their last family session as a family of four. And I look forward to the day when I can photograph them as a family of six! :)

Victor High School Senior Portraits: Matt

It's not very often that we get serenaded on a senior session. I asked Matt to play for us and play he did! We heard a variety of current songs, and a few he has written himself. He was easily most comfortable when he was playing, so we incorporated the guitar into much of his session. We also did some photos in his backyard, surrounded by the beautiful gardens they have. His favorite tree is the birch, so we had to include those. He is also quite the runner, boasting a 4.5 minute mile. Yeah, I can't compete with this kid.

A big family, mini session: Fairport NY Family Portraits

Fairport NY Family Portrait,Lori and Erin Photography,

Something you may not know: We offer mini sessions, and they've been quite popular with some of our big families. This family assembled in Rochester from several different states, and wanted to capture the entire family in one photograph. They were celebrating the 70th birthday of Max, the patriarch of the family. Hence, the matching t-shirts! Their goal was one photograph with all of them in it. We created a few different options in the short time we had with them. Here's a quick look!

Fairport NY Family Portrait,Lori and Erin Photography,

Happy Birthday Max! I hope you all enjoyed your time in Rochester!

Senior Photos at Sunken Gardens & Corbetts Glen

We had a perfect morning – not to hot, not to cold for Julia's senior session. We went to both the Sunken Gardens and Corbett's Glen to make some incredible images for her senior portraits. I love those locations because you get a variety of architecture and natural elements to work with. Julia looked incredible in all of her outfits and we had a blast! Julia is also a swimmer and avid kickboxer, so I had her show me a stance at the end of the session. I wouldn't want to get in her way, that's for sure!

Enjoy the photos, and best wishes Julia! -Lori

Rochester NY Maternity Session at Eastman Museum

I really can't believe it's been four years since I photographed Janel and Kevin's beautiful wedding day. They are another one of our couples who hold a super special place in our heart for their constant support as our business has grown. It was fun to talk "baby" together as we photographed their maternity session at the George Eastman House last month. I can't wait to share and compare stories with them as we capture the first year of their little man's life!

Janel, and Kevin - it's been an honor and a privelege to know you, and now to be a part of documenting your growing family. Thank you!! Rest up now (believe me, you'll miss it), and get ready to welcome your bundle of joy into the family. I'm sooooo happy for you, and can't wait to meet him! ~ Erin

McQuaid Jesuit Senior Portraits

We only needed one location for Jack's session: the boat house. We went to Genessee Valley Park along the Genessee River to photograph senior portraits for the McQuaid coxswain. Jack is a great, easy going kid, and it was my pleasure to photograph him for the, gasp, third time. The first time I met him, he was a freshman and my how time flies! He was wonderful to work with, and pulled some strings to get us in the boat house. We even got on the water, even though Jack is not actually a rower. He did his best and we had a lot of fun.

Adding to the family: Welcome Baby Lucas

2014-09-06_0002.jpg

This post, was originally meant to be about our "Baby BBQ." However, I learned (rather quickly in fact), that babies tend to have their own timeline. So with that being said, let me introduce you to the newest love of our lives: Lucas Davey Perrotta. Born a full month early, he came into the world on August 25, at 9:03 am. He was (and is still) a peanut at just 5 lbs, 14.5 oz. But yet, he's tall at 20 inches long. I've no idea where that comes from, because it sure isn't me!

A surprise to his daddy and myself, he just couldn't wait to officially join our family. And I'll be honest, I wasn't ready. We were only 36 weeks along! The month we had left to "prepare" was suddenly gone and replaced with this beautiful little man with tiny fingers and toes. So while I may not feel totally ready for this roller coaster ride into parenthood, I'm going to hold on tight and enjoy the ride.

Welcome to the family Lucas. We are excited to learn who you'll become, and to be a part of shaping who that person will be. You are so loved by so many already, especially me.

We love you always and forever,

Mommy (Erin) & Daddy

Lori's 365 Project : Part 8, August

2014-08-16-22.36.53.jpg

My 365 project has turned into a photo-journal. A record of one piece of each day. This month has been the busiest of the year for the business, so the majority of my photos are from our senior, family and wedding clients. Its fun to look back on and see how the month developed, as it has gone by in a blur. On days without sessions, I managed to sneak in some personal things: my garden, hiking, dinner on the deck, pedis with Erin, and hanging around the fire pit. All in all its been a great month, not to mention the early birth of Lucas Perrotta! (Watch for another blog post featuring this new addition coming soon!) So enjoy this recap of the last month of Summer, and bring it on, Fall, I'm ready for you! -Lori

Does this girl just keep getting cuter? I think so! If you've been following the blog, you've met Morgan before. This session was to celebrate her at 9 months. We started at home with the dogs, and then headed out to a relatives house for some shots with the pond and barn. It was an incredible location, and Morgan rocked it with her numerable adorable outfits!

Can't wait for our next installment in the first year program. Stay tuned! Lori

canandaigua,senior portraits,

She came to me with an idea. Monica said, 'Can we shoot in Canandaigua?' I'm always game for anything, and it turned out to be an amazing place for photos. We walked around downtown, incorporated the murals and architecture, and ended up down by the water. It was a wonderful evening, and we had so much fun. Monica is the Stage Manager this year for Fairport High School, so she surprised me by being a natural in front of the camera! I loved her red shoes, fabric filled suit case and bubbly personality.

Monica-- thank you for a fun session! Have a great year!

-Lori

PS: Special thanks to my always amazing assistant for this shoot, Linda!

Ana wanted a natural setting for her senior photos, and she was not afraid to get wet! We went to Corbetts Glen, and then to the Thomas Creek Wetland area in the Village of Fairport. We braved the mosquitos and the bees, and got some really nice, elegant shots for Ana. Check out a few of my favorites below!

Ana-- have a great senior year!
