Keuka Lake Senior Portrait Session

Cassidy's Penn Yan Senior Pictures

Ahh, Fall senior pictures are the best. The weather is cool, and the colors are vivid.

Cassidy is a Penn Yann Academy Class of 2021 senior. She lives in the heart of wine country with Keuka Lake right down the street, which made a gorgeous backdrop for her senior portraits.

She was excited to show off her new tattoo, a subtle line of text on her arm. I was glad to celebrate your senior year, and this milestone with you in such a beautiful setting!

Congratulations Cassidy!

Fairport Family Pictures in the Fall

There’s a general feeling that families should hire a photographer only when their children are little for family portraits.

I understand the reasoning. Families get busier when the kids are teenagers, and tend to forget that these moments are passing at a rapid pace. But yet, so much growth happens in those tween and teen years that deserves to be photographed.

Take this family for example. Before the youngest, Hannah (we took her senior pictures too!), heads off to college, this family of five was due for some fun and an updated family portrait. I love this hidden boardwalk in the heart of Fairport, and the flowers that night did not disappoint.

So yes, right now IS a good time to take your family pictures. Especially when one of those grown up kids is now a high school senior and they’ll soon be leaving home for college. This time is important, and deserves its own family portrait session to remember it by.

Rochester NY Skyline Senior Portrait Session

Hannah’s senior pictures at High Falls

Rochester NY Senior Pictures that think outside the box? You got it! Hannah is a Fairport High School Senior, and wanted to head to the High Falls district for her senior pictures.

We explored the colors, textures and atmosphere with perfect light all around.

And then as the sun dropped and dusk settled, we climbed to the rooftop for some magical and iconic skyline senior pictures. This is the true model experience for a senior portrait, and a night to remember for us all!

Congrats on your upcoming graduation Hannah!

PS - We spent more time with Hannah and her family at their family session too. Go check them out!

What to Wear in Your Senior Pictures | Fairport NY Senior Portrait Photography

Not sure what outfits to pack for your senior portraits? Here’s a few ideas from your fave Fairport NY Senior Portrait photographers that might help!

1) Casual

Pack at least two of your favorite casual outfits. Rule of thumb? If you don’t feel comfortable in it, you won’t look comfortable in your pictures. So pick your favorite outfits that also make you feel amazing when you wear them.

2) Uniform

This could be for anything. Maybe it’s your team jersey, or letter jacket. Or, maybe you’re an Eagle Scout and you want to commemorate it. The point is, if you wear a uniform you’re proud of, you should wear it in your senior pictures.

3) Formal wear

Get dressed up! We recommend one formal outfit if it fits your style. This could be your favorite suit, outfit or even your prom dress.

4) Cap and Gown

If you have it, please take professional senior pictures in your cap and gown. It’s the main reason for your senior pictures after all!

5) School Spirit

Represent the high school you’re graduating from! OR better yet, are you going to Yale and already have the quintessential hoodie? Let’s share that news with the world.

Above all else, be comfortable in your clothes! Be yourself, and enjoy this time in your life. You’ve earned it!

Jake's Schoen Place and Football Senior Portraits

Jake is a Class of 2021 senior at Brighton High School. He’s an athlete and all around great guy.

When I look at Jake’s senior photos, I can’t help but think of Friday Night Lights. We explored the area around Schoen Place in Pittsford NY, and hopped a fence to get on the football field (unnecessarily I might add, but it provided for some good laughs!).

His costars for his senior pictures included both his mom and girlfriend. (Yes, you can include them in your senior portrait session!) But Jake took center stage with some impressive catches along the sideline.

Congratulations Jake and best wishes!

Carly's Sunken Garden, Senior Pictures in Rochester NY

Carly is a Class of 2021 high school senior at Gates Chili High School.

We visited the Sunken Gardens in Rochester NY for her senior pictures. When you look at Carly, you can’t miss those eyes! Gorgeous inside and out, this volleyball playing high school senior is bound for great things.

I so enjoyed her senior portrait session! If you’ve been following the blog, she may actually, look familiar. That’s because we photographed senior pictures for another member of her family recently! Check out her sister, Lexie, and her senior pictures from last year!

Enjoy Senior Year, Carly!

Family Pictures in Honeoye: Rochester NY Family Photographers

One 5 year old, two dogs, their parents and tons of room to run. Which is exactly what was necessary to photograph this five year old at his yearly family portrait session. They’ve been one of our amazing member families involved in our candid mini session events for all five years of his life. (What is this membership?)

After all this time, we know that playing is the way to his adorable smile. He also knows what to expect from us, and very rarely hides his face from our cameras. It’s one of the reasons that taking advantage of the candid mini session events makes sense.

We let the silliness happen, and we photograph their family pictures as they really are. That’s the side of him that his family wants to remember when he’s grown, so we capture it while we can. Enjoy this glimpse into their family!

PS - If you feel so inclined to check out that big inn behind them in the last photo, that’s Greenwoods Bed & Breakfast, and they’re the newest owners. Check it out, I promise you’ll want to want to take a little getaway after you see it!

Bryce's Golf Senior Portraits at Cobblestone Creek Country Club

Bryce is a high school senior at McQuaid High School. He was eager to include his passion in his senior portraits. He is a fierce competitor with a golf course in his backyard, so it was an obvious answer to the question of “where should we take our senior pictures?”

We wandered the course for a mix of traditional senior portraits and also some unique action shots.

And how about that field of black eyed susans? Swoon!

Congratulations on your senior year at McQuaid, Bryce!

Victor NY Senior Portraits: Jacob, Class of 2021

This was my second time working with Jacob, and man did we have the perfect summer night for his senior portraits! He grew up on the golf course, but unlike his brother, Jeremy, Jacob prefers the pool. (See the last shot below for a watery background that complements his eyes!)

Just like with his brother’s senior session, we snuck in some family portraits as well. I love working with families over the years and recording the changes. I’m just sad there are no more kids to photograph in this one!

Congratulations Jacob, can’t wait to see what you do next!

Maternity Sessions in Rochester NY: Laura and Kevin

If you know them, you know that I’m very far behind on publishing Laura and Kevin’s George Eastman Museum maternity session here on the blog.

If you don’t know them, the snow on the ground in Rochester NY might give you a clue as to how far behind I am. A winter maternity session isn’t an easy thing to plan, but it can be very pretty.

Even though it’s late, we still wanted to share their beautiful maternity portraits. This little one is already so loved. Keep an eye out to meet her here on the blog soon! (And look closely for a few fun clues!)
