Wickham Farms Halloween Family Portraits

It's been almost a full year since our portrait membership program began. We've gone sledding, planted flowers, held picnics and played all year long.

It's been a blast getting to know our members and photographing them as they learn and grow. And even though it was a little drizzly - almost all of our members attended the last event of the year with us at Wickham Farms.

Halloween costumes were on point as we explored with everyone as they rode the train, jumped or fed goats. It was so awesome to see everyone in costume - even parents got in on the costume fun. We had everything from Harry Potters and Ninja Turtles to Lions and Batman.

We'd truly love to be a part of your lives all year round, so if you've ever wondered what the membership program is all about, check it out

We can't wait for what 2017's events will bring, and hope to see you there!

Family Pictures in Webster NY: Hayes Family

When a photographer asks you to make their family portraits, it's nothing short of an honor. This session with them felt more like a hike in the woods than a portrait session, and it just reminded me how awesome this family is.

Seriously - kudos to Linda and Todd for raising three amazing people! I enjoyed catching up with Brian, Emma and Sarah, and hearing about their current adventures and future plans. They were all so easy going, and even though I know they get their photos taken a lot (it happens when your mom is a photographer!) there were no complaints.

Also, I can never get enough of these gorgeous fall evenings. Enjoy!

Oh, and don't forget to check out Linda's work at http://www.lindahayesphotography.com/

Cheers!

One year portraits at Long Acre Farms

If you have been following the blog in the past year, you've probably "met" Theo by now.

I have had the pleasure of knowing his parents for about 7 years now, and documenting the growth of their little one has been a fun adventure!

To celebrate Theo's first birthday, we met at Long Acre Farms out in Macedon. It's such a neat place if you have never been! We shot at noon on a Saturday... and it was crowded. Generally, this is not the ideal circumstances for a session, but you'd never know by looking at the images!

We seriously could not love this kid any more. Here's a little peek into our portraits and pumpkin picking.

Love you Theo!

Family Portraits at Wild Wings, Mendon Ponds

I've known Mikaela all of her life (hehe), and I've known her parents longer. It's been an honor to have them as members in our Portrait Membership program, and get watch them all grow together as a family.

I also have a two year old who never sits still. So I'm no stranger to chasing a two year old around at a family portrait session.

Which is exactly what I did with Mikaela. She's a peanut, but she's a fast peanut. She ran around the trail at Mendon Ponds like she owned the place. And she stopped only long enough to watch a few birds land in their hands at the Wild Wings Nature Center. (If you've never been there, it's a fun place and an easy hike for toddlers!)

By the end - Mom, Dad, and Grandma might have had tired legs, but Mikaela could have kept going all day. What an adventurous and adorable little lady!

I can't wait to see where the adventures take them next!

3 Month Old Family Portraits

A sleepy baby is the best. Except for when you actually were hoping she'd stay away for her three month old portrait session. But as always we work with whatever our littles give us!

This little miss only wanted to cuddle into her Mommy or Daddy's shoulder. But we did get a few cute shots in her Captain America Halloween costume and then outside before she finally gave in to sleep.

Babies, toddler, kids in general - they're all unpredictable. But along with the tougher parts, comes some of the most amazing times of life. And we're here for all of that, for you!

Family Portraits at Long Acre Farms

It may have been threatening rain, but that didn't put a damper on these kids' spirits! Big sister was all about sharing pumpkins and seeing how many she could carry at once, while her little brother just wanted to hang out with mom and ride in the wagon. Long Acre Farms is such a great location with lots of activities for kids of all ages! And really, what beats Fall family portraits at the farm?

Hope you can join us for more Fall fun at our next event on October 30! We'll be at Wickham Farms, so come say hello! More details on Facebook.

Lifestyle Newborn Sessions: Baby W and Family

A newborn session can be tricky. Sometimes the new bundle of joy isn't sleepy, or is in the middle of a growth spurt and wants to do nothing but eat, eat eat.

This one week old little munchkin fit this description perfectly. But truth be told, this is real life with a newborn baby. It's most definitely not all sleepy baby poses, placed in baskets and props.

And we're here to tell you that's ok.

We've tried that form of newborn session, and while they are ridiculously adorable, we actually prefer showing you the beauty in your real life. We want to capture the way you look at him through tired, but beaming eyes full of love. Or the way you as new parents, look at each other.

So even though he didn't give us much time as a sleepy baby, he did give us a chance to capture this family's love for him as they kept him cuddled close.

Congratulations Meghan and Ian on your beautiful baby boy!!

Day-in-the-Life at the Family Cottage

Did you know, that there is an island in Lake Ontario, near Sodus? I didn't.

It's called Eagle Island, and is home to many summer cottages. Obviously, you need a boat to get there, so I got a lift to this day-in-the-life portrait session.

I started capturing the day before I even stepped onto the dock. It was my privilege to accompany this extended family on a summer day at their cottage.

This day in the life session included both sun and rain (which we haven't had much of this year). Also, I can't call it a typical session, as most of my sessions don't take place on a boat. Though I think could get used to the idea...

I believe this documentary style of photography is overlooked in the family portrait realm. Life is a wild and crazy adventure, and perfect outfits in front of a wrinkle free background doesn't do it justice.

Andrea said this session was, "A perfect representation of what our summer weekends are like."  That makes me happy. Wouldn't you like a time machine to the best days of your life?

So rather than tell you what we did, I want to show you.

I think every family should have something like this, no boat or island cottage required. If you believe in the power of photography, and want to have a record of your wild, crazy, fun life, call us today! I can't wait to be a part of your adventure.

Disclaimer: We spent about 20 minutes of this five hour session making portraits, so it was roughly 95% documentary. Because this was an extended family gathering, everyone doesn't get together very often. So it made sense to get a couple of group shots that wouldn't naturally happen on their own. I'm okay with that if you are.

Honeoye Family Session

Most of our family sessions are a blend of some portrait set-ups and then some documentary style fun.

At three years old, Cedella was mostly interested in playing around her swing set and having a nice cup of tea with mom and dad. While Nesta, the family beagle, was never far away.

We walked around their property and enjoyed some family snuggles along the way. Here are just a few of my favorites from this fun session.

Enjoy, and reach out when you are ready for your family portraits!

Family Portraits in Victor NY: Family pictures at the Pool

When I think of my favorite sessions, they often go something like this. A few portraits around the house, and then let the kids play!

That's exactly what we did. We had a great morning in Victor with this family of five. All of the kids love lacrosse, so they got their uniforms on and showed me some of their skills. They raced around the yard and then jumped into the pool to cool off... in their clothes! I love this shot of them all in the air doing something slightly different.

Thanks for being you, and letting me be the witness!

Cheers!
Lori

One Week New: Fairport NY Portrait Photography

Witnessing our wedding couples start their families is by far one of the best parts of this job. There's no better times to be a part of a family's life - the day they get married, and when they become a family of three.

This little one is only one week old and already the brightest star in Gail and Greg's sky. I could feel their happiness to be parents from the moment we arrived. Every time they looked down at her tiny little face, their own faces lit up with love.

It's hard to believe such a small bundle can change your world so completely. Greg and Gail, congratulations on your perfectly sleepy little lady! We can't wait to capture her as she grows!

Family Pictures at Lollypop Farm: Flynn & Clara

These kids... they are something else.

Flynn doesn't sit still for a second. At 18 months that's really no surprise. And Clara? Well she is a sweetheart with an attitude. I had the pleasure of sharing one of my favorite places with them, Lollypop Farm.

We checked out the animals and hit up the playground next door for a non-stop morning of fun.

Does anything beat the smile of a toddler? Not in my opinion, especially not this toddler. Love you both more than words can say!

xoxo,
Aunt Lori
