Embracing the Storm: Rochester NY Photography

I love my son. The day he was born he filled a hole in a part of our lives that had been empty. He's smart, funny and I love watching him learn. But after just two days trapped at home because of winter storm Stella, I have an even greater appreciation for stay at home parents, and also for daycare teachers who care for their kids health and growth, with love, on a daily basis.

There was a time I thought that maybe I could both work and stay home with my son. But I quickly learned that I can't do it all. By trying to do both, I was actually failing both my work and my child. And so he goes to daycare, which for my family was the right choice.

Ok, so back to our snow day adventures. I knew that trying to work while he was home would have meant letting him veg in front of the tv for hours. Bad mommy. So we filled the time with Pinterest and ideas from other parents. We combined them with our own silly games, which mostly included pretending to be Stormtroopers hunting sharks.

As exhausting as it was in the midst of it, I tried very hard to embrace our time together. It's easy to forget sometimes that these are the moments I'll miss when he's grown. I love the memories we made together this week as mommy and son. I'm doubly lucky to be able to capture it in pictures, to keep for myself as he grows.

You guys, I want to do that for you. I want to give you these moments to cherish, long after your babies aren't babies. Which is why, I'm that much more excited about our portrait membership program. Our events are for you, as parents, to fully embrace this time with your kids - storm and all. We invite you to fully immerse yourself in the activities, and let yourself enjoy your kids and this moment in time, that will inevitably go too fast.

And we get to give back to you the joy of the moments in our photos. Photographs that actually include you.

Because after the storm passes, and everything is quiet in the house again - you'll miss it. Trust me, as thankful as I am that daycare is open today, I already do.
