Senior Photos at Linear Park : Kaitlyn

Celebrating your senior year is pretty exciting, and we love to celebrate it with you. Kaitlyn is another one of our awesome 2016 seniors, who we recently got to photograph in her natural element - outdoors.

She has been a dancer for most of her life, but is also a counselor at Camp Stella Maris. Being outside and in the water was what she wanted, so we headed to Linear Park in Penfield. I couldn't help but smile when Holly, the family dog, followed us around for the session. She just wanted to keep Kaitlyn company!

In 5 words, Kaitlyn is: Smiley, bubbly, boho, bright, and girly

I love the adventurous side of this girl. She climbed into the water for a great shot on a log, and danced like no one else was around. She also rocked every single outfit she brought with her. Thanks for a fun evening, enjoy the photos!

Fairport NY Senior Photos: Meet Kate

There are a few advantages to shooting your session in your own backyard. First, you have your whole wardrobe available, and there is always a bathroom nearby for outfit changes.
Second, Your family members are usually around, so they can jump in a photo if you'd like them to. I could go on, but my favorite advantage is exploring an area familiar to you and finding interesting ways to make art in your own environment.

To me, it's like a puzzle. I take your personality and style, add various outfits in different colors, and put it all together by creatively using the spaces in and around the house.  This session is the perfect example for all of this.

For Kate's photos, we used everything from their beautiful garden to the side of the shed. It was a lot of fun to make something out of her every day environment!

Here's Kate in 5 words: fun, classy, sassy, adventurous, and caring.

Sometimes you don't have to go far to find great photo opportunities, you just need a great smile!

Thanks for a fun session Kate, enjoy!

Senior Portraits in Canandaigua NY

Ashlyn in 5 words: Friendly, happy, bright, fun, & exciting.

Ashlyn is a senior at Pittsford Sutherland, but wanted to venture a little farther away to make her senior photos unique. Canandaigua has such great architecture, murals, and the lake, of course. What more could you ask for? We had a great day exploring the area and making some fun images. Check it out!

If you are looking for a unique twist on your senior photos, give us a call!

And Ashlyn- have a great year!

Senior Portraits at Sonnenberg Gardens & Eastman Theatre

Grace describes herself as relaxed, classy, simple, original, and fun. I'd have to add sweet, talented and humble. We began her session at Sonnenburg Gardens in Canandaigua and finished at the Eastman Theatre in downtown Rochester. Although we could have spent all day exploring the gardens of Sonnenburg, Grace plans to study music education, so getting some time at the theatre just had to happen with her senior session!

Grace just rocked that red dress at Eastman Theatre. I loved listening to her play while passers by complimented her! It was truly a fun and gorgeous evening with a great girl.

Oh, and if you are looking for some live music at your next event, check out the Grace Frarey Band!

Thanks for such a fun session, Grace! Have a great summer!

Victor NY Extended Family Pictures

50 years together is something to celebrate. I try imagine my life 40 years from now, and can only pray that I'll be surrounded by as much love and family as Janet and Dick are.

It was a hot, humid morning for a family portrait update, but these guys stuck it out. With rain possibly threatening their anniversary party, we wanted to make sure that we photographed the family together before everyone traveled home the next day.

The day ended up rain free. And while the portrait session was warm, I had a lot of fun with this family, and their pups too! It was clear to see they enjoy their time together, and loved celebrating an amazing milestone for a wonderful couple.

Congratulations on 50 years together! ~ Erin

Dear John...

No, this isn't THAT kind of Dear John!! In fact, it is the opposite.

There is one person who is part of our team who doesn't get a whole lot of credit.

We had two weddings this weekend. And as I ran about the house, charging batteries, cleaning lenses, reviewing notes and answering emails, my husband was making me an omelet and filling my water bottle. He knew I'd need a good hearty breakfast because I'd be on my feet all day, and wouldn't be getting dinner until late.

Then while I was out photographing the weddings, he was cleaning the house and walking the dogs.

When I got home, he carried in my heavy camera case and poured me a drink.  Then, while I'm stretching in the middle of the floor, he listened as I relayed the highlights of the day, even though he was in the middle of a good movie.

So as another successful wedding weekend concludes, I am thankful for the support and love of my husband. I am able to do this job that I love because of you. I stay hydrated and sane because of you.

You are more than I deserve and I appreciate you. I don't know how else to say this, but I love you and am eternally grateful for all you do.

John, you are mine forever.  Happy belated 5th Anniversary! Love, Lori

The 365 project travels: Rochester NY Photographer

The middle of summer has come and gone. In a flash, I'm taking this 365 project into another new month. I was lucky this month - there was no lack of things happening.

From weddings to travels to Colorado to just ordinary every day adventures in gardening, this was a whirlwind month. But definitely a fun one.

I was in another wedding as the Maid of honor / photographer. And I traveled across the country to photograph a beautiful Colorado wedding also. Lucas in turn, got his first plane ride (and maybe his last), saw real mountains for the first time, and even saw an elk on one of our hikes through the Rocky Mountains.

In less than a month, we'll be singing Lucas Happy Birthday while he dives into a cupcake. Wow. He's now 11 months old, and suddenly looks so much bigger. It's hard to believe that he started out as a 5 lb peanut in my arms.

Well, here's to another month down, five more to go! ~ Erin

Backyard Family Photos in Rochester, NY

I had the pleasure of working with Kendall last year as we created her senior portraits. It was a joy to work with her again, and meet the rest of the family this time! Both sets of grandparents were in town for the graduation festivities, and we were lucky enough to find a gap in the rain. We headed out back on their woodsy property and were able to capture the whole gang, including the dogs!

I am so lucky to meet such amazing folks and it is my honor to preserve these memories for you. Congratulations Kendall, enjoy Tulane University! Hope to see you all again soon!

Family Photos in Penfield NY

They came from Chicago, Syracuse and Webster to be together for a family vacation this summer. Spending time on the lake, hitting up Seabreeze and watching the little ones play.

It was my pleasure to photograph this lively, friendly bunch up in Penfield. Taylor and Hailey ran around while Joey was just up for hanging out. We had a great morning together, and the kids earned their playground time after! Here are a few of our favorites. Enjoy!

Family Portraits for Cobblestone Living | Victor, NY Photography

We really love meeting and photographing local families. Hearing their stories, seeing the way they interact together and how they live. Every family unit is unique and interesting! Cobblestone Living is a magazine that also celebrates this idea, so it has been a wonderful collaboration. Each month, we get to meet and work with a different family in this Victor neighborhood. I thought I would show you a couple recent families we had the pleasure of working with!

First up, the Utter Family. Jody is a Realtor and her husband works for Seedway. They have 3 daughters, but only two were able to get together for the portraits. We missed Erika, but still had fun with Jacqueline and Marigrace! The landscaping was flawless, thanks to Billy's gardening talents. And their backyard blends right into the golf course. Only once did we have to hurry up on a shot so I could get out of the golfers' way! It was an easy going session and lovely group of people.

Next, the Braun Family. Also three kids, but this time all boys! They are a retired Navy family, hence the red, white and blue theme for the photos. I loved hearing about all the places they have lived. It was a really interesting thought to realize that when JJ, the oldest, goes off to college, those four years will be the longest he has ever lived in the same place!

I love these two family shots: the nice perfect looking family in the backyard, and a little goofy shot in the front yard. The dogs did a great job too, although they weren't too happy about the fireworks going off in the distance!

We'd love to get to know your family too!

Until next time,
Lori

The 365 Project in June: Rochester NY Photographer

Ok guys, I'm not going to lie, this project is starting to get harder. Seems a little backwards with all of the sessions, weddings, and fun summertime things going on right?

It's not getting harder to find a photo of the day, but it is getting harder to remember to take them, and share them. With the busy season in front of us, time is a bit more limited! However, it's still happening, and I'm very glad for that.

I love seeing how far Lucas has come in 6 months time. This motivates me to keep shooting. He's learning sooooo many new things (at his own pace of course). I love watching the light bulb go off in his head when he understands something new. Years down the road, I won't remember when he started eating with his own two hands, or the first time he really made an effort to roll over. So that's my main motivation. I'm capturing my family's history, one day at a time. Plus, he's just plain cute. So if you're sick of seeing his little face, I'm not sorry.

I've also been enjoying photographing my backyard, specifically, the flowers that are popping up everywhere. I didn't plant them, but I'm glad someone did, so that I can enjoy them!

Here's this months' photo recap, enjoy! Only 6 more months to go! ~ Erin

Brighton NY Family Pictures: 6 months old

This peanut is my favorite 6 month old these days. My niece, Nora is starting to show off her little personality lately, and I love it. In between me sneaking hugs, we captured her smile at the 6 month old stage.

I've come to realize that there's nothing truly like a baby smiling and laughing at you. So it was the highlight of my day to get to see her and cuddle her - and photograph her of course.

We played in the grass, did some tummy time, and tried to eat toys (well, she did, I watched), and in the end came away with some adorable new images to add to her first year book.

Here's a few of my personal favorites! ~ Erin
