Lori's 365 Project Part 6: June!

2014-06-28-13.30.43-HDR.jpg

Halfway through! This is another month of randomness in my photo-a-day project. However, looking back at these images makes me realize just how fast life goes by. Looking at this set, each captured one day throughout the month of June, I see so much STUFF that happened. If you don't journal or do a project like this, it's easy to blink and not see time passing. Using this month as an example, here's what the last 30 days looked like: a wedding, canal days, a new haircut, softball, dinner with family, drinking with friends, trying new food, watching the garden grow, a new backsplash, hiking, biking, boating, learning, reading and, of course, photography.

Phew. Some days it doesn't seem like much happens, but when you look at it like that, we sure do a lot in one month! How are you keeping busy this summer? I sure hope you are having some fun!

Thanks for following along on the adventure... Lori blog_0094.jpg

Newborn Pictures in Rochester NY

Less than a week old, and he's already growing too fast. We've been looking forward to his birth for awhile now. Back in the fall, we photographed their announcement, - so finally he's here!  And now that he is, we all want to slow down time and keep him this small forever. I went to photograph his first session of his first year plan, and probably spent a bit more time snuggling him than I meant to. But I couldn't help it, he's just so cute and cuddly! I'm so happy for his mommy, daddy and big brother, and am excited to watch him grow up. Hopefully though, not too fast.

Family Portrait Session at Belhurst Castle, Finger Lakes

What a great vacation idea-- escape to the Finger Lakes and have all the family meet there. We worked with this amazing family last year, and were excited that they came back to town again. This time, we met at Belhurst Castle on Seneca Lake, whereas last years session was on Keuka Lake. Same two adorable cousins with another on the way! These girls are full of energy, laughter and love. They enjoyed running around the lawn, reading and playing with their toys. And the sunglasses! Too cute! Without further ado, meet Claire, Jane and family!

We took Landon to the local park to celebrate his 2nd birthday. Man- life goes fast! Just yesterday we were swaddling him, now he is running around, being a super hero. He loves to play tackle and chase, so it was a good workout for me. It is so worth it when you see this little man's smile. Happy Birthday Landon!

Fair warning, there is a lot of adorableness in this post! For this session we played dress up with Morgan at 6 months. Mom and Dad had lots of fun dresses to show off, and Morgan was the best little model. From an elegant white gown to pink ruffles and finishing off with a fun sailor dress, how could you resist?

The Century Club on East Avenue provided the perfect backdrop for this session. I just love this sweet little girl! See you soon Morgan!

This maternity session was quite different than our norm. Sam and Stephanie requested some classic maternity images, and the weather was not cooperating for an outdoor session, so we ended up in our office. I don't do it often, but it can be converted to use in a "studio like" manner. So we did! We got together and made some simple yet elegant, black and white portraits to celebrate baby number two, coming next month.

Congrats Sam and Stephanie, I can't wait to meet the little one! Lori

Lori's 365 Project: May 2014

2014-05-05-13.16.19-1.jpg

May started out with a theme idea from my mom- flowers. I expanded on that to include all of nature, but was quickly overwhelmed when business started to take off. Funny how things start blooming and then all of a sudden, the phone rings! So this month is a mismash, hodge podge of semi-random images. On days when I didn't have a chance to seek out a personal image, I used things created for work. Portraits, weddings, products, they're all a part of my life and a part of this project now! If I had time, I enjoyed capturing the natural beauty of Spring in the forms of various flowers, plants and views.

So it may be a bit random, but I haven't missed a day yet! My photo-a-day 365 project lives to fight another day! Enjoy, and be sure to join me on instagram @lorianderin for the day to day updates. -Lori

the great babymoon adventure of 2014 : sanibel, florida

2014-05-08_0002.jpg

Halfway there. We're halfway to meeting our sweet little baby. About two months ago, I realized we hadn't planned our babymoon. If you're unsure what that term means, I relate it to a "last chance" vacation. As much fun as being a family of 3 plus dog will be, taking one last trip alone with my husband was important to me. So while it was still snowing, blowing and generally depressing outside - we made a plan to visit Sanibel Island in Florida.

And it couldn't have been more perfectly timed - still chilly here, but not overwhelmingly hot in Florida. Also, it so happens to be just before our busy summer wedding season begins.

One of my absolute favorite moments happened on our second day there. Wandering out into the Gulf waters, we noticed some fins surfacing...and coming closer to shore. There were 5 or 6 dolphins just off shore feeding, not paying attention to our presence. As we stood still, they came closer, until they were about 10 feet away from us! What a rare moment to get to experience!

We biked the island, read books in the sand, went shelling and ate like it was our job. The island also has a great wildlife refuge, filled with rare birds, alligators and other incredible plants and animals.

Also, while we were there, we took the opportunity to make our second announcement of my pregnancy, ready? It's a...

Fairport Senior Pictures: Emily

Our first senior from the Class of 2015, and we couldn't be off to a better start! Emily was a joy to work with and we had a blast at Highland Park! Emily is going to be a senior at Fairport High School and describes herself as casual, opinionated, fun and supportive. She is part of a leadership group which I think is fantastic. "I work with students and we do things for the community and encourage kids to be drug free." Beautiful on the inside and out, love it. She is also into fashion, and I have to say, I think she liked modeling!

Giving Back: MDA Night at the Races Gala 2014

This was our third year volunteering for the MDA Gala, and it's one event that's truly a pleasure to be a part of. 'Night at the Races' is an annual fundraiser for the Muscular Dystrophy Association and includes a silent auction, live auction, and of course, the Kentucky Derby! The main part of the evening included words from guest of honor Mario Daniele, of Mario's Italian Restaurant, as well as several other guest speakers. There was also a very moving video presentation describing this disease- which has no cure.

Having met some of the folks living with the disease as well as those who care for them, and those running the MDA, we are happy to do our small part in photographing this event. Any proceeds from sales of the images are donated back to the cause, in addition to the session auctioned off. Below are a few of my favorites from the evening, and you can view more event photos here.

Welcome Baby Dempsey | Syracuse Newborn Photography

Landon has a new little brother, and some competition in the cuteness category. His name is Dempsey and he is such a sweet pea. When I visited, Landon was in play mode and Dempsey was asleep. That's basically how the whole session went. It was a good thing the focus was on Dempsey! Even though Landon didn't want to pose with his brother, it did result in one of my favorite family photos of late. It shows what life is really like with an almost two year old and newborn under one roof. A little crazy, a little fun, and a little tiring. Here we go, enjoy!

To our moms : Happy Mother's Day

2014-05-08_0010.jpg

From day one, no - hour one, our mom's have always been there for us. With everything from clean clothes and warm food to unconditional love and support. Today is the day we celebrate them - so here's some special notes from us to them. There are not enough words of thanks that I could give my mom for all of that. And as I enter the world of parenthood myself, I'm proud to have her beside me, because I have a feeling I'll need her more than ever! Everything I know about being a mom comes from her and I look forward to my little one calling her "Grandma." I love you Momma - Happy Mother's Day! ~ Erin

My Momma, and Gram... enjoying life :)

My mom is better than your mom, na-na-na-na-na-na. No really, she is awesome. She is the most selfless person I know and an incredible role model. When I grow up, I want to be just like my mom. :) Mom, thank you for all you have given me and all that you are. I love you! -Lori
