Fall Family Portraits in Pittsford NY

As always it's an honor to be asked to photograph a family portrait for another photographer. I love being able to capture beautiful images for someone who rarely gets the time to be in front of the lens.

However, beautiful family portraits are sometimes hard work to get. As most of you with children know, your babies aren't always camera ready. Erica of Erica Lowenguth Photography, knows what I mean. Again, even a photographer's baby can have a bad day.

Even though her little one wanted nothing to do with me, Erica persevered. She didn't get angry about it. She knew that by doing that, it would only hurt the situation. She was patient and loving, and she hugged them tightly until finally we saw some smiles towards the end. I could learn a lot about being a better Mom from her!

It was hard work, but this Momma's worth it, and deserves to have beautiful images of herself with her babies. Thankfully, I believe we were able to achieve that goal! ~ Erin

Adrian and Eric's Anniversary Session | Rochester NY Photography

When Adrian said "Hey, my five year anniversary is coming up. Can we set up a surprise session for Eric?  Oh, and I'd like to include all of my dogs."

A surprise session, AND dogs? We say yes, always. Because dogs are always welcome. After all, they're family too.

The look on Eric's face when he saw us pop out from behind some bushes, was one of confusion - but happy nonetheless to see people he knew at Hamlin Beach State Park. It wasn't until Adrian told him why we were there, that it really clicked.

They've never had a portrait session done before. Adrian, a photographer himself, finally decided it was time to get out from behind the camera. We are so glad that he did. It's always an honor when another photographer chooses us to capture a moment in their lives for them.

We're so grateful to have such amazing friends in our lives - especially if they have dogs! Happy Anniversary Eric and Adrian!

A Rochester Maternity Portrait Session: Rowan & Kevin

I am beyond excited for these two soon-to-be parents! Rowan and Kevin are expecting their first child in October - well, their first two legged child! :)

Kevin is a veterinarian, and we're all dog lovers, so of course we had to include the fur babies. Roxy and Kinsey enjoyed the walk around Linear Park and didn't seem to mind the camera. You'll be seeing more of this family, so stayed tuned to the blog. But for now, enjoy some of their baby bump photos!

Can't wait to meet the new addition!

A Double Family Session in Fairport

How fun is this? Kerry and Katie have been best friends since they were four years old. Now, they each have two kids that are quickly becoming best friends too! We decided to shoot a double session at the local playground so we could get some individual family shots, and some with all of the kids.

These kids are just too cute! We counted pine cones, blew bubbles, walked and played our way around the park. And they are lovers too, they were all about the hugs and kisses. I just can't get enough! Check these cuties out!

I love watching these little ones grow up, and I still can't believe how fast it happens! Looking forward to the next installment!

Family Portraits at Schoen Place

We are so lucky to get to meet such wonderful people in our line of work. This family lives right in my community, but I had not met them until this session. Jill and Kate are sisters, and planned this session as a gift for their mother's birthday. Kate and her family came from Pittsburgh to join the rest of the group for this fun day along the canal.

Of course, Baylor stole the show, as most babies do! We had a lot of fun using the barns and bridges near Schoen Place. I hope you enjoy this little peek!

Thanks for choosing Lori and Erin Photography, we hope to see you all again soon!

Lucas turns One! Family Session in Fairport

I now have a one year old. When did that happen? Wasn't I just yesterday wondering if and when he'd ever roll over on his own? And now he's crawling, standing, and starting to talk? Ummm, no.

Now more than ever before, I realize how important my photographs are. After I put Lucas to bed the night before his birthday, I flipped through an album I'd made of images from the past year. I already don't remember what he felt like as a 5 lb newborn, and how tiny he really was as a preemie in my arms. I looked at pictures of his first Halloween, his first Christmas, and the first time he held his own bottle and reminisced on the past year of our lives. Those pictures mean everything to me now.

I'll be honest, I thought the session would be easy. But in true toddler style at a portrait session, Lucas proved me wrong - at first. He was cranky, he didn't want to play in the grass, and he wouldn't smile. So if you think your kids are the only ones who have meltdowns at portrait sessions - think again. Yes, even a photographer's baby has a bad day.

In the end, Lori worked her miracles and Lucas started to have a little more fun. I'm so grateful for her patience. And I love the smiles that eventually came out of my little man, but really, even his "serious" face is adorable. As he grows faster and faster, this one year session taken by Lori will be added to those memories in the ever growing album, and his moments of crankiness will all be forgotten.

Victor NY Extended Family Pictures

50 years together is something to celebrate. I try imagine my life 40 years from now, and can only pray that I'll be surrounded by as much love and family as Janet and Dick are.

It was a hot, humid morning for a family portrait update, but these guys stuck it out. With rain possibly threatening their anniversary party, we wanted to make sure that we photographed the family together before everyone traveled home the next day.

The day ended up rain free. And while the portrait session was warm, I had a lot of fun with this family, and their pups too! It was clear to see they enjoy their time together, and loved celebrating an amazing milestone for a wonderful couple.

Congratulations on 50 years together! ~ Erin

Backyard Family Photos in Rochester, NY

I had the pleasure of working with Kendall last year as we created her senior portraits. It was a joy to work with her again, and meet the rest of the family this time! Both sets of grandparents were in town for the graduation festivities, and we were lucky enough to find a gap in the rain. We headed out back on their woodsy property and were able to capture the whole gang, including the dogs!

I am so lucky to meet such amazing folks and it is my honor to preserve these memories for you. Congratulations Kendall, enjoy Tulane University! Hope to see you all again soon!

Family Photos in Penfield NY

They came from Chicago, Syracuse and Webster to be together for a family vacation this summer. Spending time on the lake, hitting up Seabreeze and watching the little ones play.

It was my pleasure to photograph this lively, friendly bunch up in Penfield. Taylor and Hailey ran around while Joey was just up for hanging out. We had a great morning together, and the kids earned their playground time after! Here are a few of our favorites. Enjoy!

Family Portraits for Cobblestone Living | Victor, NY Photography

We really love meeting and photographing local families. Hearing their stories, seeing the way they interact together and how they live. Every family unit is unique and interesting! Cobblestone Living is a magazine that also celebrates this idea, so it has been a wonderful collaboration. Each month, we get to meet and work with a different family in this Victor neighborhood. I thought I would show you a couple recent families we had the pleasure of working with!

First up, the Utter Family. Jody is a Realtor and her husband works for Seedway. They have 3 daughters, but only two were able to get together for the portraits. We missed Erika, but still had fun with Jacqueline and Marigrace! The landscaping was flawless, thanks to Billy's gardening talents. And their backyard blends right into the golf course. Only once did we have to hurry up on a shot so I could get out of the golfers' way! It was an easy going session and lovely group of people.

Next, the Braun Family. Also three kids, but this time all boys! They are a retired Navy family, hence the red, white and blue theme for the photos. I loved hearing about all the places they have lived. It was a really interesting thought to realize that when JJ, the oldest, goes off to college, those four years will be the longest he has ever lived in the same place!

I love these two family shots: the nice perfect looking family in the backyard, and a little goofy shot in the front yard. The dogs did a great job too, although they weren't too happy about the fireworks going off in the distance!

We'd love to get to know your family too!

Until next time,
Lori

Brighton NY Family Pictures: 6 months old

This peanut is my favorite 6 month old these days. My niece, Nora is starting to show off her little personality lately, and I love it. In between me sneaking hugs, we captured her smile at the 6 month old stage.

I've come to realize that there's nothing truly like a baby smiling and laughing at you. So it was the highlight of my day to get to see her and cuddle her - and photograph her of course.

We played in the grass, did some tummy time, and tried to eat toys (well, she did, I watched), and in the end came away with some adorable new images to add to her first year book.

Here's a few of my personal favorites! ~ Erin

College Graduation Pictures: Rochester Portrait Sessions

It was a special day for Alex and his family. He walked across the stage to receive his diploma, then stepped in front of my camera for some family photos. I'll never forget the first conversation I had with his mom, which roughly said "We need family photos before he moves and I never see him again!"

Admittedly, a little dramatic on my part, but he did accept a job out of state.

I always think it's a good time for a portrait, and this was a great one. I enjoyed being back on campus, as I always do. We shot near the Red Barn (RIT's climbing area) which was perfect. It gave us a lovely background, and privacy on an otherwise hopping campus. And we were even entertained from above as the Air Show was in town!  As an added bonus, Alex's girlfriend was able to hop in a few photos as well.

Sara, Norman, Alex and Stephanie, it was a pleasure meeting you all! Thanks so much for reaching out, and I hope these photos bring back wonderful memories.  And congratulations on your graduation from RIT!

Best wishes,
Lori
