7 Month Old Baby Portraits: rochester ny portrait photography

Lori and I are very lucky to be a part of a special group of friends. We grew together out of a love for photography, and often times a love for a bottle of wine amongst girls. They keep us motivated, laughing, and always dreaming big. We are so thankful to have them in our lives. One of our girls, Kathy, welcomed a new baby boy into her family 7 months ago. Recently, Lori & I stopped by to play. I say "play" because each time we have a portrait session for a baby, we end up laughing, playing and sometimes cuddling. Frankly, we never pass up an opportunity to play! On top of that, getting to be a part of this family's life means the world to us.

I love this age so much, they're always watching and learning from the people around them. So when we went to visit, he was all smiles and very talkative! He tried to copy all of our funny noises and laughed at our silly faces.

Mini-Sessions Photography: 6 month old pictures

I think 6 months just became my favorite milestone in the baby steps plan. This is the age when babies are usually starting to sit on their own, they are full of expressions and are just a whole lot of fun! While Clara is no stranger to my camera, this was the first time I got to work with Paulie. The first of many I hope! Have you seen this stud muffin? Watch out ladies... While we had hoped to be outside for these mini sessions, the day proved to be a little to cold for that. We ended up inside at the Barnes Hiscock Mansion in Syracuse, NY. The home is beautiful with lots of great spaces we were able to utilize. The staff was wonderful to work with as well. If you are in the area, I definitely suggest checking it out!

Extended Family Pictures: Rochester NY in home family portrait session

We last saw these guys in the fall at the wedding of Bri and Anthony. The littlest one here was still in the oven at that time, and his big brother was the ring bearer. My how much changes in just a few months! It was so nice to catch up with these guys and capture a whole new chapter in their family's life. We got the whole group together for a group photograph, and then spent a lot of time with the three littlest. It took some coaxing to get these adorable expressions from these cute cousins, but we all agree, it was worth it.

Spring Family Portraits at Lamberton Conservatory

The calendar says spring, but the weather clearly has other plans for us lately. Lucky for us, we have a local indoor alternative at the conservatory for some cute family portraits! This family has a special place in my heart. You see, almost four years ago, this family was just an engaged couple. They were the first to hire me as a wedding photographer. They gave me a chance and a start on the path my life has now taken. For that, I couldn't be more thankful to them.

Now, they are a family, and I was so excited to get to see them again, and meet their little girl for the first time. She jumped around, played and scouted out turtles in the conservatory – it was a blast! I can't wait to watch their family continue to grow.

Family Portraits at a 90th Birthday Celebration!

We recently had the honor of celebrating with a wonderful family as Carmella turned 90. We  knew going into the event that this would be a fun time, as we got to work with the majority of this family about two years ago at a wedding. They didn't let us down! We had such a great day, capturing some family portraits for them. We photographed every family combination possible, which were quite a few as Carmella had five children! One Year Old Baby Pictures: rochester ny portrait sessions

It's crazy how time flies. From newborn to her 6 month session, and now she's already a year old. Her awesome parents just threw her a "Little Miss Sunshine" themed birthday party, which I think is very fitting, she's such a happy girl.

She's always talking, and although I can't understand her yet, she seems to be having deep meaningful conversations with me. When I visited for her one year session, she shared story after story with me. Some of them were even from her bookshelves!

We played for awhile – with all of her toys. Cookie monster, teddy bears, stuffed ducks, all of her books and who doesn't love a rocking giraffe?  I just can't get enough of her adorable smile. There's just nothing better than a baby's laughter.

We've been honored to photograph her as she grows, and already can't wait for her next session. Perhaps then I'll understand a little bit more of the story she's telling me.

9 Month Baby Portraits: Fairport NY

It is so much fun to watch babies grow in their first year, and not just in the size of their clothes. We love to watch their personalities grow as well. Landon has been a joy to photograph this year, and in this third session of the series, he was again, a champ. He might not have been feeling 100% that day, but he stuck it out through 6 outfit changes and still managed to show off that winning smile! We have so many favorites, but here are just a few. 3 Month Baby Portraits: Fairport NY

This session is stage three in Clara's first year series. I first photographed her while she was still inside of her mom's tummy at the maternity session. Then captured her new-ness in newborn photos, both of which you can see on my previous blog. Just last week, it was my pleasure to capture the next stage: 3.5 months! Now, we don't think there should be rules for a babies first year plan. Some folks want to capture their babes at 0, 3, 6, 9, and 12 months while others do 0, 4, 8, and 12 or even just 0, 6, and 12 months. Babies change so much in their first year, we just want to capture the milestones that are important to you! The 3 or 4 month session is all about those adorable little expressions! At this stage they have learned to respond to sounds from mom and dad and can smile on purpose (and it's not because they're gassy!)

Newborn Photography at Home: Rochester NY

Winnie, Amy and Steve's first love and fur baby, has competition... stinkin' cute competition.

We just love seeing our former wedding couples as their families grow. First with the wedding, then they get a puppy (or vice versa in some cases). Then, when the time is right, along come babies. Super cute babies. I was so excited when I heard Amy & Steve were expecting a little girl, and was thrilled to get to meet her last week.

We arrived, piles of gear in tow, ready to create beautiful images. But as we started bringing our things in, we noticed among the clothing choices, and blankets that Amy had prepared for us... a snowboard? Apparently, Steve wanted to throw us a little creative curve ball. His request? An image which incorporated his snowboard. Challenge accepted, and with Lori's help, challenge conquered!

Congratulations Amy and Steve, you're going to be truly amazing parents. We are so happy for you, and wish you all the best on this new adventure into parenthood!

Madelyn is two, and as to be expected, very active! We spent an afternoon playing in her big backyard on Cayuga Lake.We went out on the dock, picked cat-tails, played with some of her favorite toys, and just hung out with mom and dad. It was a gorgeous September day and I’m so glad I got to spend it with some great people!
