A Love Like No Other: Happy Mother's Day
Recently, someone asked about my son: "Did you ever think you could love someone so much?"
The usual answer that I think most new mom's give is "No. This is beyond amazing, being a parent opens up a whole new world of love, that you never thought was ever possible."
So I think I surprised her when I responded instantly with a very simple "yes." But I never got the chance to explain why.
It's because in my life I've already experienced that unconditional kind of love. With my own Mom, and all of the other Mom's in my life. I'm blessed to have been the recipient of that love.
She didn't show it in cute Pinterest projects, or by cutting my sandwiches into masterful zoo animals. She didn't need to. The love was and still is, always there. She made sure we knew, that no matter what, we were always loved. Through the late nights, to the temper tantrums over peas, to that one time we knocked over the china cabinet, she loved us regardless. Even today as an adult, I know that when I call, she'd drop everything.
So now that I have my own pea throwing toddler, it's obvious to me. Naturally, there are frustrations and hurdles to overcome. And I'm clearly no Super Mom. That's a fact I'm fully willing to admit.
But did I ever think I could love something so much? Absolutely, because for me, it's been there all along.
Happy Mother's Day!
